Due to the overall large student population in Isla Vista, coffee shops, pizza and burrito restaurants, and most local businesses are often busy well past midnight, with some buzzing with activity until 2 a.m. each night.
Isla Vista has some of the highest housing prices along the California coast, with students sharing densely packed houses (rooms) with various levels of quality. As you drive, walk or bike around the area, you will notice that many developers and investors have seem to come in over the last 2 decades to upgrade a lot of the housing options. Some are just major remodels while others are complete new builds. Isla Vista also seems to always be growing and changing with new money coming in and an endless demand for housing.
Isla Vista is located on a south-facing portion of the Santa Barbara County coast, between Coal Oil Point and Campus Point with a direct view out towards the Channel Islands. Isla Vista lies on a flat bluff top about 30 feet in elevation above the beach. There are numerous access points down towards the popular beaches.
